Recording an album with The Celtic Bairds.

Well what a whirlwind 3 days that has been. I picked Pete Townsend , the double bass player (not the big nosed chap for The Who) from Gleneagles station on Monday evening and the boys arrived on Tuesday. Ger Malone the acclaimed Irish piano accordian player had travelled from Kilkenny that morning and the legend that is Eddie Sheehan playing guitar and singing the songs. We recorded 7 tunes on the first day and celebrated with a bottle of whisky and a good bonding craic into the early hours. I was awoken about 7.30 on Wednesday morning tuning his bass and doing arco warm ups which did not help the slightly thick head I had from the night before, we were all up and recording by 10.30 and worked through another 5 tunes and went to the pub for tea. When we got home we got stuck into group backing vovals and harmonies. When they were done it was deceided to record another couple of tunes , starting the Pogues 'The Grand Majestic Shannon' at 2 . A. M whilst drinking the best part of another bottle. It is hardcore working with the Irish boys , we work hard and play hard and recorded 14 wonderfull pieces over 48 hours. I feel blessed and vindicated and looking forward to the mix.
